Before visiting an Aviation Medical Examiner, pilots must complete an important step: the FAA MedXPress application.
MedXPress is the FAA’s online system for submitting your medical history before your FAA medical exam. Completing this form in advance helps streamline the certification process and allows the examiner to review your information prior to the appointment.
The MedXPress application asks for details about your:
- Medical history
- Medications
- Previous surgeries or hospitalizations
- Vision correction
- Mental health history
- Any prior FAA medical issues
Pilots should take time to complete the application carefully and accurately. Providing incomplete or incorrect information can delay certification or require additional clarification.
Once the form is completed, the system generates a confirmation number. Pilots must bring this confirmation number to their FAA medical appointment.
Many pilots complete the MedXPress application the night before their exam, but it’s often helpful to do it earlier so you have time to gather any needed information about medications or past medical history.
At Aviation Medicine Center of Virginia, we work with pilots from across Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and the greater Hampton Roads aviation community to make the FAA medical certification process as smooth as possible.
